Communication is not a Barrier.

DiaLect App is an application which help the user to translate and learn the dialect. The objective is to inherit the local dialect to the next generation. Our slogan is “Communicate is not a barrier” which mean the people also can use dialect to communicate instead of use the main languages which are English, Chinese and Bahasa Melayu. Nowadays, the teenagers are major in the three main languages and they are ignoring the importance of dialect. It’s cause they are facing difficult, especially communicate with the eldest family member. So, this application is to solve the teenagers cannot speak well in their dialect and improve their communication skill with the dialect.

We are using Proto.io software to create the prototype to present the look and function that exactly like the DiaLect App should be. From the diagram, it shows the interface of the DiaLect App. The user can either sign in as the member or skip as the guest. The benefit to become a member is the application can help to record the history and the promotion or reward. Both members can fully use the app by free charges. The application is open to every user whether he or she is younger or eldest, male or female, and so on.

The main function of DiaLect App is to translate the dialect. The user can either use text translate or voice record translates. It is convenient to user as they can find the meaning as soon as possible instead of ask another person and confusing the meaning. DiaLect App can translate more than three dialect which are FooChow, Teochew, Hakka and so on. Of course, it will increase the type of dialect in the future. The DiaLect is using Youdao online dictionary to translate the meaning into English, Chinese and Bahasa Melayu. So, the user can get the correct pronunciation and meaning.

DiaLect app also provides the community platform which allows the user to interact with local user. It can let the application become actively as the user can share their knowledge and experience then learn together. In the application, it provides an online classroom to teach the profession dialect. The user can take this opportunity to learn the dialect as free charges as there is no much dialect class in the market.

As the member of DiaLect App, the user can participate the quiz. The purpose is to test the understanding of the dialect. The quiz is using the multiple-choice question. The user needs to click the sound icon and listen to the sound transmission, then based on the sound to select the correct answer. If the user answer correctly, it can get the award. It is encouraging the user to study hard in order to get the reward.

From the diagram, it shows the reward that can get from the user if they are answering the question correctly. DiaLect App will collaborate with some merchant in order to get the voucher and doing the promotion. The reward can be the voucher and the user can redeem this voucher at the particular shop. The thing that the user should pay attention is the expire day of the voucher, in general, the voucher can be kept as long as one month. It can attract more user to use our application as it can get the free voucher.
