Travelling is very common nowadays. Many people would go travelling at least once a year to relieve working stress or explore new cultures or things in foreign countries. There are a few tips as follow that everyone could follow in order to become a better traveler.

Buy a small backpack

By purchasing a small backpack, you will be forced to pack light and avoid carrying too much stuff. Humans have a natural tendency to want to fill space so if you pack light but have lots of extra room in your bag, you will end up going “well, I guess I can take more” and then regret it.

Take an extra bank card and credit card with you

Unfortunate incidents might happen. Therefore, it is vital to bring extra bank card and credit card in case you get robbed or lose a card. No one would wish to go for vacation in foreign countries without access to funds.

Don’t be afraid to use a map

Looking like a tourist is not as bad as getting really lost and ending up in the wrong neighborhood. Don’t be afraid to use a map or ask for directions and look like a tourist. After all, you are one! It helps you get to where you need to go.

Always visit the local tourism office

Everything going on in town can be known through local tourism office. They will recommend free activities and special events happened in town to you. They even offer discounts on attractions and transportation. It is their job to help you experience the destination better. A savvy traveler should use this resource. This is probably one of the most underused travel tips in the world.

Learn basic phrases in the native language of your destination

Learning the basic phrases of local language will make the interaction between you and the locals easier. You do not need to master the language but learning a few essential phrases such as “Hello,” “Goodbye,” “Thank you!”, “Where is the washroom?” are useful enough. The locals will be happy that you tried to speak in native language.
