Beach Clean Up Day

Students from Executive College do their best to save our earth from trash by invited a group of students to clean the beach.

According to Amos, J (2017), the total amount of plastic ever made was nearly 8.3 billion tonnes, which equates to 1 billion of elephants. This is a serious issue for the earth in the long run as it will cause our earth heading towards 'Planet Plastic' if we did not dispose of the waste properly.

That is why we will form into a group to clean the beach. One of the member said that: "Cleaning the beach has always been something I want to do since I’m a teenager. I’m glad that I found a group of friends who are willing to do beach cleaning in college." They planned to go on a Saturday as first, it is a weekend and all of them are free. Second, because they just made decision to go on a Saturday.

During the Cleaning Day

They met at Yew Café at 900a.m. for breakfast and left at 930a.m. The drive to Damai Puri took them about an hour long and they had a great time in the car. It was almost 1030a.m. once they reached Damai Puri, and they parked their car at the car park. They got all the tools and ready to head towards the beach.

Surprisingly, there were 3 free-roaming horses near the entrance, and one of them ran towards us when it saw us. Fortunately, it stopped at the walking path for a few seconds and walk back to its barn to continue enjoying its “meal” (grass).

They started cleaning the beach and the area despite getting eyes from other visitors. We collected around 10 bags of rubbish and threw them into the rubbish bin provided. Upon completing, we went to the convenience shop nearby to get some drinks for refreshments before leaving. We ensure that we do not leave any rubbish behind except for our footprints.
